The next day we will all eat breakfast together with the cowboys at 7:00 a.m.—sharp to prepare for a learning day with your wrangler. To give you an idea of what to expect…

Day 1 — Learning the Ropes

After eating a hearty breakfast, you will go down to the barn and spend the morning learning the basics of how to saddle a horse, how to ride, and how to work cattle. We will even let you do some roping on our practice “animals”. In the afternoon you will get to practice what you have learned and enjoy some time in the arena, and then through the meadow riding your horse. You’ll be ready for a break at 5:00 and then dinner at 6:30. We’ll sit by the fire pit and learn from our local historian about the history of the UUBAR Ranch and the surrounding area. Lights out at 9:30 p.m.!

Day 2 — Working on the Ranch

After breakfast at we will go to the barn and saddle the horses. Depending on the time of the year and what activities are going on at the ranch, the day may consist of driving cattle to pasture, watching a branding, doctoring cattle, or checking the herd to make sure all the cattle are doing well. We will stop for a cowboy lunch and a little time to rest, then back to work! We’ll get you back to the ranch in time for a hot shower and a good meal ! We’ll sit by the fire pit again and be entertained by local musical talent.
